| 63 windmills are the pilot program. To break even financially, the machines
must be in operation 35% of the time. The 3 year wind survey predicts
40% or above for the area. Machine "life" is expected to be
thirty years. The machines are manufactured in Spain and shipped here.
The tower consists of 3 parts bolted together during erection. They are
erected on a deep concrete foundation. Everyone is familar with Mary Lou
and her height. Note the size proportion between her and the windmills
in the pictures - the tower, the gear box and the 82 feet long plastic
blades (not shown on the ground). |
